Date: 2017-08-22  |  Read: 726

Five startup teams won grand prize and excellence awards in late June at an SK-sponsored startup contest co-hosted by the Yonsei School of Business and the Yonsei Enterprise Support Foundation.

Grand Prize winners were Bit Chat, with a Braille machine for the vision impaired, and Auto-Research with a modular automatic experimental assistant program. Awards of excellence went to the Codeit, KOTEL, and Dae Mul Rim teams. Their entries were, respectively, an online educational app in coding, a quiz show app, and a free extracurricular service.

The five winning teams were selected from 11 competitors. The Bit Chat team attracted considerable attention because all the team members met in the “Startup 404: Creative Problem Solving for the Community” course. The judges were headed by SK Manager Seung Hee Lee,

Also attending were YSB Dean Yong Ho Eom, Hong Gyu Sohn, director of the Yonsei Enterprise Support Foundation, YSB Associate Dean Dae Sik Hur, and venture capitalist Young Jun Kwon, the CEO of Scissors Partners.

The KOTEL, Auto-Research, and Bit Chat teams will compete in the finals of the SK Startup Program and also start to compete again with other college startup teams. The SK startup competition is a student-oriented program in support of systematic business education in entrepreneurship, enterprise incubation, and overseas advancement for college students.
