Ten graduates of YSB’s Global MBA program who are now working with multinational corporations returned to campus on December 3 to participate in the Global MBA Alumni Career Mentoring Workshop with current first- and second-year Global MBA students.

The ten alumni of diverse nationalities graduated 2012-2015 and now work with companies that include Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Capital, Hyundai Motors, KT, and companies in the consumer products and healthcare industries.

Associate Dean Subin Im of YSB and Professor Soonhong Min of the Global MBA program attended the program to welcome the alumni and to encourage participation by the students who were busy in the last stages of the fall semester. The alumni shared their experiences in job searches and work and discussed different industries, occupational groups, and career paths with the current MBA students. They also coached the students on the job application process.

“I was interested in the fashion industry. It was great to talk about fashion industry trends, and corporate cultures with alumni who have work experience in the relevant field,” said a student who entered the Global MBA program in the fall semester after completing a bachelor’s degree in Japan. Another student who majored in human resource management in the U.S mentioned, “it was good to receive advice based on actual experience on issues such as differences in corporate cultures between Korea and the U.S, the employment process, and standards for Korean proficiency by having conversations with foreign alumni working for major Korean companies.”

The Alumni Career Mentoring Workshop is held every semester under the supervision of the Global MBA Career Development Center. It is part of a program to reinforce networking between alumni and students and to aid students in their job searches.
