Yonsei Global MBA conducted the Yonsei MBA Summer School from May 18 to May 29. The two-week program confers a fixed number of credits for students from universities under the exchange agreement with YSB.

The main program this year consisted of 10 regular lectures. On Wednesdays, special lectures were presented by Yonsei MBA alumni Lee Bong-jin, head of Zara Retail Korea, and by personnel from Hyundai Motor Corporation. Field trips to give students direct experience of Korean companies were made to Daewoo Shipbuilding and MBC Broadcasting Station. Korean culture was also highlighted through attendance at a Nanta performance and a baseball game.

Teruaki Kobayashi, a student from the National University of Singapore, said he, “was not only able to earn academic knowledge from the balanced selection of topics and well organized lectures, but I also able to gain an insight into understanding a practical business environment. I now have a diversified understanding of the problems faced by the Korean economy and companies and of the special culture and environment only attributable in the Korean market.”

Jason Oh, a student from Duke University, said, “the visits to Daewoo Shipbuilding in Geoje Island and to historical sites in Gyeongju City were very impressive.”Participation by MBA students from Canada’s York University and China’s Tongji University made it an opportunity for participants to understand the cultural differences of each country.
