Professor Seung Hyun Kim Publishes Two Papers in Prestigious Journals

Professor Seung Hyun Kim of Information Systems, who joined the Yonsei School of Business in fall 2014, has published papers in two prestigious journals, MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research.

Professor Kim’s two papers focus on some of the darker aspects of society’s highly developed modern information technology, giving them great significance, given the current attention being given to information technology.


The paper published in MIS Quarterly, “Differential Effects of Prior Experience on The Malware Resolution Process,” deals with content related to information security, a big issue that has surfaced within our society recently. The paper in Information Systems Research, “Online Gambling Behavior: The Impacts of Cumulative Outcomes, Recent Outcomes, and Prior Use,” deals with the growing issue of Internet gambling.logy topics.

Professor Kim expressed his advice for students in the form of hope they will pursue flexible and logical thinking, devote themselves to studying, and also think about ways they can contribute to society with a goal or direction in mind. Lastly, he said, “I feel I have contributed, even if only a little, to the school by publishing these papers, and I thank everyone in the School of Business for their ungrudging support for my research.”

He graduated from the YSB and received his master’s and doctoral degrees in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University. Later, he served as an associate professor at National University of Singapore for six years. In September 2014, he was appointed a professor at his alma mater, the Yonsei University School of Business.
