Professor Hyun-Tak Roh Receives 2018 Chohun Academic Award

Associate Professor Hyun-Tak Roh of Management received the 2018 Chohun Academic Award  given by YSB alumnus Byung-Heun Ko (entering class of 1964, Business), chairman of kumbi corporation to select and reward professors in YSB and in the Yonsei College of Commerce and Economics for excellent research achievements.

After receiving a degree in psychology from Yonsei University, Professor Roh earned master's and doctorate degrees in human resource management and organizational behavior from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and joined YSB in 2010.

 

Based on his extensive field experience at Towers Perrin and the Samsung Economic Research Institute, Roh has been studying diversity in corporate organizations and associated human resource management policies and their influences on corporate performance. Since acquiring his doctorate degree, he has earned a reputation as a world-renowned scholar in human resources management by publishing four articles in two prestigious journals ranked by the Financial Times as top 50 journals.

 

In 2015, the Academy of Management Journal published Roh’s paper, "When can we close the map?" It discussed if there is an actual difference between men and women’s performance and rewards. In addition, a paper published in 2016 in Human Resources Management discussed the impacts of a company’s gender diversity and the diversity of its top management team from a new perspective.
