YSB has appointed Dr. Jae Kyu Lee, an erudite scholar of Information Systems, as an endowed chair professor.. Moreover, the Yonsei Business Research Institute (YBRI) has also appointed him co-director of Bright Internet Research Institute (BRI).

BRI plans to engage in international joint research projects with KAIST, Xi'an Jiaotong University in China, and research centers in the United States. BRI also plans to host the Bright Internet Global Summit in December in Seoul to facilitate discussions among researchers, businesses, international organizations, and government agencies.

Professor Lee coined the term “Bright internet.” Internet platforms rely on self-protection to fend off anonymous attacks. This creates serious security issues on the use of the Internet, which is foundational for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. As a response, the Bright Internet concept has been proposed to combat internet crime and terror.

He received a Ph.D. in Operations and Information Systems from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and taught as a professor at KAIST. During his stay at KAIST, he served as dean of the College of Business and dean of Techno-MBA. He is the author of numerous publications in both domestic and foreign journals, the recipient of various academic awards, and is the first Korean scholar named president of the Association for Information Systems.
