Professor Il Im Receives the 2016 Chohun Academic Award

YSB Professor Il Im of Information Systems has received the 2016 Chohun Academic Award. Given by the College of Commerce and Economics Alumni, the Chohun Academic Award has been given to YSB professors who do outstanding research since 2003. The award is sponsored by Kumbi CEO Goh Byeong Heon (entering class of 64, Business).

 

Since joining YSB in 2005, Professor Il Im has published papers in top-tier journals, received the best lecturer award several times, and served as the head of Corporate MBA and Advance Management Program.  He has also written several books, including Platform Perspective of the World, Recommendation Systems Using R, and Insights on theFourth Industrial Revolution.

 

Journals in which his articles have appeared include MIS Quarterly, a top-tier journal for information systems and International Journal of Electronic Commerce and Computers in Human Behavior. Professor Im’s research interests lie in analyzing and predicting customers’ behavior in online buying and information searches. His research aims to analyze and predict online customer behavior through mass data analysis by using recommendation systems or mechanical learning.

 

“I hope that my future research will provide theoretical understanding of online behavior and give practical support to firms,” Professor Im said.
